Mooc’s are Massive open online courses!
Bring that motivation and get logged into Unifrog to experience bitesize courses in hundreds of higher education opportunities. There are over fifty topics ranging from fashion, disease, medicine and dentistry to sports, tourism and hospitality. Whether you want to try an introduction to nursing, animal science or web and mobile design, you are guaranteed to find something of interest. The courses are run through universities worldwide so you may find your Mooc is run by anyone from Leeds Trinity to the University of Virginia.
There are courses ready to sign up to immediately with new ones starting weekly. Login every Monday for an hour to work through the course. Course durations vary by topic. Some can be completed in several hours, whilst others may require you to login for an hour a week for 4-8 weeks. You can sign up to as many courses as you like, and we would encourage you to explore a variety of different topics.
Mooc’s are recognised by university admissions teams, so set yourself apart from the rest with a wealth of knowledge gained through these taster courses. With admission teams receiving hundreds of applications for the same courses, universities are looking for students that stand out. What better way to do that than having already completed a Mooc in your chosen subject? Show yourself to be motivated and proactive in a time that is unprecedented. Not sure if university is the right route for you? The world of work and apprenticeship markets are just as competitive. Employers are sure to favour candidates that can demonstrate a basic understanding of their particular sector.
