It is hard to believe that we are in our final half term in our old school building! We have a busy few weeks ahead of us preparing to move. After seeing the new school building one of our Year 7 students exclaimed “we are desperate to see the smiles on everyone’s faces when they see inside the new school” and another commented that “it makes me feel like we are special.” It is fantastic that our students and staff feel like this. Everyone one of our students deserves to feel special. I hope that as parents you are as excited by the opportunities that these new facilities present to each of our children.
This week all our assemblies were led by our Student Leadership Team with the support of Mr Hill. The leadership team were introducing their peers to our new school and what they have to look forward to.
A new feature on our website is called “Student Showcase”. Here we will feature some of our students work from different faculties around school. This week we have some brilliant work from English chosen by Mrs. Harris and also some lovely work done by students in languages for Ms. Hemsley. To view this work please click here.
As you will be aware there were two school trips during half term, the first to depart was to Austria skiing and after a very long journey all the students and staff who went had a fantastic time and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
The second trip was to Rome. Seeing the great historical and cultural sites such as the Forum, Pantheon, Coliseum, Vatican and Sistine Chapel, St Peter’s Basilica, Catacombes, Spanish Steps etc. We returned exhausted but thrilled by all we had experienced. The students were an absolute credit to themselves and the school.
Please don’t forget that on the 7th March we have parents evening for Year 11, 12 & 13 there will also be Post 16 stalls for year 11 students that will provide them information about what subjects are available to study in our Sixth Form. You can book your appointments here https://oakbank.parentseveningsystem.co.uk until the midnight on the 6th March.
There will also be an opportunity for the students who are going to Poland to have a look at the Post 16 stalls; this will take place on Tuesday 6th March from 3:00pm-4:00pm in the LRC.
