Heads Blog 13th March 2018

Thank you to everyone who came to parents evening and Post 16 course information night on Wednesday 7th March. I hope you all found it useful and that you had the opportunity to speak to all the staff you needed to. The Post 16 options form needs to be handed in to student reception by Friday 16th March. If you would like to have a look at the presentation about Post 16 and what they can offer please click here.

A group of our students and staff went to Poland last week as part of their GCSE and A-level history. They did a tour around Krakow, visited Birkenau Concentration Camp and Auschwitz. We received amazing feedback from Imran Manzoor – Director of Holocaust Study Tours about our students; he said “Your students were an absolute delight. It would be unfair to single out any individual because every single student demonstrated maturity, intellect and compassion beyond their years. I made use of exercises I usually reserve for my undergraduate philosophy students – such was their level."

This week all our students will be taking part in the Sports Relief mile during their PE lessons. They will all be raising money for this fantastic cause and we are really hoping to keep our title as the school that raise the most in the north of England which was over £1300.
Some of our year 10’s took part in the ‘Speak Out’ Challenge workshop which was provided by an external organisation called The Speaker’s Trust. All the schools in The Beckfoot Trust and taking part in the challenge, it is designed to improve communication skills and build their confidence. All of the students involved performed a speech they had prepared at the end of the day. It was a very positive experience and students got a lot from it. Click here to read more.

And finally we are only two weeks away from our move into our new school building. The excitement is growing as the 'Golden Ticket' Tours near completion. We have had over 300 students get a chance for an early access tour! They can't wait to get in. If you have not yet seen all the information on the school website about our final arrangements for closing for Yrs7-10 and 12 on the 23rd March, as well as our continued program of lessons for Yr11 and Yr13 please take a moment to read it:
